3SC Draw Against Lobi Excites Ogunbote

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) technical adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote has expressed delight with Sunday’s scoreless draw in their Week 31 clash against Lobi Stars in Makurdi.

Ogunbote, who was in charge for the Oluyole Warlords in the away encounter, lauded his players attitude with the experience, despite playing one man down. “our attitude today was okay, the boys played for one another and the red card put more pressure on us but thank God we survived the onslaught”, said Ogunbote.

In their first leg fixtures against Lobi in Ibadan, which was Ogunbote’s first major game in charge, 3SC won 3-0, which was a clear indication for them that the reversed fixture in Markudi would not be easy because of Lobi Stars pedigree at home, and their precarious position on the log.

Similarly, 3SC media officer, Jubril Arowolo attributed the away point against Lobi to hard work. “We also realized that after hard work, our attitude too matters in the game! As such, we designed a closed team strategy and it clearly worked out and God crowned our efforts with a precious point.

“From the kick off, 3SC seized the initiatives to dominate the encounter even after a clear penalty appeal in 20′ which the referee over looked! Elegant Tope Orelope had (like a hot knife through butter) dribbled into the box and was badly cleared and the referee could only allowed medical treatment not a penalty even to the consternation of the home crowd.

“The crowd later changed their loyalty to our side after being in complete control of the game even with a man down since 49′ (our hard fighting striker Babatunde Bright had barged into a defender to get a red card on obvious ‘retaliation’). However, mention should be made of goalkeeper Danladi Isa who had a good day to keep the ball out of his net, and his colleagues who worked extra hard to cover the void created by the marching order to Bright. Although, it is a point and it is precious for Shooting Stars unbeaten records against Lobi Stars since 2012”, Arowolo said on his facebook account on Monday.
