Amokachi Praise Ahmed Musa
Super Eagles Stand in Coach Daniel Amokachi hailed Ahmed Musa following the Super Eagles’ 1-1 draw with South Africa at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit yesterday.
With Vincent Enyeama forced out of the weekend’s clash with a back injury, Musa was handed the armband.
The CSKA Moscow man made his presence felt, scoring a spectacular goal with five minutes remaining.
Similar to, if not better, than the goal he scored against Argentina in the World Cup, Musa cut in from the left flank before curling the ball into the top corner of the net, leaving a flailing Itumeleng Khune with no chance.
“He is a good player, we all the the experienced and world class player that he is. You can see the goal he scored was reminiscent to the one he scored against Argentina in the World Cup. It is brilliant,” said Amokachi in the aftermath.
“We needed that experience because we have a lot of young players and new players coming into the team and I’m sure he contributed in that way.
“He is the most capped player in the team, after Vincent left. I definitely think he is a well deserved captain for the day, capping it with a brilliant goal.”
