The National Secretary of the National Association of Nigerian Professional

Footballers, Austin Popo has declared that it will no longer be business as usual in

the protection of players’ rights in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

The former Nigerian international said gone were the days when some group of

people will come together under the guise of players’ protection in a bid to enrich

their pocket.

Speaking with Soccer Parole, Popo said the body is backed by law and duly

recognized by the Trade Union Council which makes it legal.

Speaking further, he promised that a new dawn has come for players plying their

trade in the local scene as the body will use every legal means available to protect

their rights.

On his part, Chairman of the Lagos state council, Tajudeen Disu while speaking after

their official inauguration some few weeks ago, He said the body is not interested in

fighting with the League Management Company or the Nigeria Football Federation

as long as the right things are done.
